What is CMS 350KT?

Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) 350KT is a carbonaceous adsorbent with a high surface area and controlled pore size narrower than 10 Å (angstrom). It has quick pressure build up and reduced velocities, improving energy efficiency. CMS 350KT has a pellet shape with high mechanical stability, which results in low dust formation and high resistance to crushing and attrition for the most demanding and safest operation conditions.

Applications Of OraPure

CMS 350KT is used in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plants to generate high purity nitrogen gas from compressed air. Purity between 95% and 99.999% N2 can be achieved with a range of operating conditions in terms of temperature (5 – 50 °C), pressure (6 – 15 bar), and cycle time (40 – 90 sec). Moreover, equalization, backflow, purge, and cutting achieve further efficiency and energy improvements.

Properly loading the CMS bed is essential for successfully operating the PSA unit. It achieves a high packing density, enhances flow distribution, and reduces gas channeling and dust formation. Depending on the vessel configuration, three loading techniques can be employed:

Selecting the most convenient loading technique depends on the vessel shape, ease of access, and available resources. CMS 350KT drums should be opened and immediately filled into the PSA adsorber vessel in one go in dry conditions. CFL mats, if equipped, should be replaced. After filling, the bed should be compacted and fixed appropriately.
